Traffic stop leads to drug bust in Penn Yan

Police in Penn Yan report the arrest of three individuals on drug charges following a traffic stop on Lincoln Avenue.

Officers say they observed a vehicle with three occupants enter and leave a known drug location at 11:04 pm. When officers stopped the vehicle, they identified the driver — and two female occupants — who were all Penn Yan residents.

Ryan G. Thomas, the driver, as well as Faylind Peterson and Shylo Zirkle, were found to be in the vehicle carrying drugs.

The investigation revealed that Peterson was in possession of several hypodermic syringes and two micro zip bags of cocaine. Officers found another hypodermic syringe on Zirkle and found several bags of suspected heroin concealed under Thomas’ seat.

Peterson who is currently on parole for charges of drug sales, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally possessing a hpodermic instrument.

Peterson was then taken into custody by New York State Police on a warrant and transported to the Yates County Jail.

Thomas was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned in Penn Yan Village Court and remanded to the Yates County Jail.

Zirkle was charged with criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument and released with an appearance ticket.

All three will answer the charges in Penn Yan Village Court.
