Lyons man leads deputies on brief chase; arrested on multiple charges

A Lyons man is facing multiple charges after he attempted to flee police following a routine traffic stop.

Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts reports the arrest of Terry Phillips, 49, of Lyons for third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.

Phillips was stopped for failing to stop at a stop sign in the Town of Lyons. During the stop, Phillips fled in his vehicle in an attempt to get away from deputies. A brief pursuit ensued and came to an end on Wayne Center Rd in the Town of Lyons. Subsequent to his arrest Phillips was found to be in possession of crack cocaine. He was transported back to the Sheriff’s Office for processing.

Phillips was arraigned in Galen Town court in front of Honerable Justice Heald and committed to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $75,000 secured bond.
