Seneca County Sheriff Tim Luce gave his monthly briefing for December on Wednesday. The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office responded to nearly 1,000 calls for service during the month of December, which ended the 2016 year.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH:
December 1st: Investigators implemented drug identification training for County Social Workers.
December 8th: Two unlawful handguns were recovered at the scene of a domestic. One handgun was stolen from North Carolina. A Subject was arrested.
December 8th: The Narcotics Unit, working with Child Protective, arrested two adults for taking a 7-year-old child’s prescription medication and giving it to another adult.
December 10th: Ten children participated in the Shop With A Sheriff program.
December 16th: Road Patrol and Investigations responded to a Fatal Car Accident on Route 89, Town of Covert. It is still under investigation.
December 26th: Responded to a Domestic Violence Incident with a shotgun involved in town of Ovid. A victim was rescued through a window. The suspect was safely apprehended.
December 2016: Four were arrested during a crackdown on Welfare Fraud. There was a total of 17 charges (13 felonies and four misdemeanors).
