The old foundry was torn down long ago, its owners now dead or gone. Pollutants spewed into the atmosphere settled onto the lawns, gardens, and houses, and there they remain. I bought land in the fall zone three years ago, from a city now tasked with cleaning up the mess. The City knew my intentions for that land — agricultural production of eggs through an egg cooperative and vegetables from a community garden — yet said nothing about the contamination before or after the sale. I’m annoyed, frustrated, and troubled, but I’m not suing anyone.
