On Friday at about 8:14 pm deputies from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1600 Block of Ellis Hollow Road in the Town of Dryden for a fatal motor vehicle crash.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle was traveling east on Ellis Hollow Road when it drove off the roadway and struck a tree. The operator was pronounced dead at the scene, and was the sole occupant in the vehicle.
The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office says that the occupant of the vehicle was identified as Brent D. Handy, 44, of Ithaca.
The Varna Fire Department, Dryden Ambulance, and Bangs Ambulance also responded to the scene to assist.
The investigation is ongoing, according to deputies.
