The Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the honorees that will be awarded at its 2017 Annual Dinner Banquet. The event will be held on January 26 at Club 86 in Geneva.
The Business of the Year award will be presented to Zotos International, Inc. to honor their local history and long-standing presence in the manufacturing industry, and as a major area employer that has remained dedicated to the local communities. A subsidiary of Shiseido, a leading global beauty company based in Tokyo, Zotos has thrived internationally yet continues to actively participate and contribute to various local causes and community-wide philanthropic efforts. Last year, the Chamber honored the Finger Lakes Times for the Business of the Year award, which was presented at the 2016 Annual Dinner.
The Chamber will also include the honor for Non-Profit Organization of the Year, which has not been awarded since 2015 when it was given to Saint Peter’s Community Arts Academy. This year the award will be given to the Ontario County Humane Society for their ongoing community-wide efforts and increased program development, dedication, and passion to promote the organization’s overall mission. Established in 1989, the Ontario County Humane Society works to “compassionately advocate for a more humane community for both animals and people.” Serving all communities within Ontario County, the organization is made up of its staff, board and active volunteers who work together to generate a variety of events, activities and programs that are focused on animal safety, care and education. The OCHS also operates Happy Tails Animal Shelter, located in Canandaigua.
Final tickets for the 2017 Annual Dinner and Awards Program must be purchased in advance from the Geneva Area Chamber of Commerce by January 18th. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for cocktail and hors d’oeuvres, which will be followed by dinner and the evening’s presentation, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The evening will also feature the return of the ShopLocal! Silent Auction, and the LoveLocal! Live Auction which will support Buy Local, Shop Local efforts and showcase a variety of goods and services that are available throughout the chamber’s local and regional membership community.
