Seneca Co. IDA issues ‘fact sheet’ detailing agreement for sale of depot property

After hearing some criticism over its decision to lease 7,000 acres of the former Seneca Army Depot to Earl Martin and Deer Haven Park, the Seneca County Industrial Development Agency issued a “fact sheet” last week.

In June, the IDA voted to accept Martin’s bid of $900,000 for the 7,000 acres, saying it was the best of 19 bids received.

Martin’s plan was to create a tourism-friendly conservation area to preserve the white deer herd and other wildlife, relocate his Seneca Iron Works business at the site, create small farm homestead parcels and consider an east-to-west connecting road to encourage other development.
