Seneca Falls woman charged with welfare fraud; accused of stealing over $5K in benefits

On December 27th at 2:25 pm deputies with the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Seneca Falls woman on several charges related to welfare fraud following an investigation.

Amanda L. Cooley, 35, of Seneca Falls was charged with third-degree grand larceny, third-degree welfare fraud, and first-degree offering a false instrument — all felony charges. She was also charged with misuse of food stamps.

Cooley allegedly failed to report income to Seneca County and falsely received over $5,000 in public benefits. She was arraigned in Waterloo Town Court and released on her own recognizance.

The charges will be answered in Waterloo Village Court.
