Traffic stop in Phelps leads to arrest of Geneva men on drug charges

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports that on January 1st at approximately 6:50 pm two Geneva men were arrested for possessing various drugs following a traffic stop on Melvin Hill Road, in Phelps.

Deputies say Kayvon Irvin, 19, of Geneva and Ijahaveck R. Robinson, 20, of Geneva were both arrested for fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Irvin was found in possession of the drugs following the traffic stop, which took place in Robins’s vehicle. Deputies say the vehicle failed to dim it’s headlights — which ultimately caused the stop.

Irvin was placed into custody without incident and released with an appearance ticket. Robinson was issued citations for traffic infractions.

The charges will be answered in Phelps Town Court.
