Tree limb falls onto car, power lines on SR 5&20 in Hopewell

An accident that happened on Monday around 2:13 pm complicated travel on State Route 5&20 in Hopewell.

Deputies say that Marie Sajsa, 65, of Kenmore was traveling east on Route 5&20 when a large tree limb broke off of a tree that was on the south side of the highway. The limb landed on top of the vehicle causing extensive damage to the roof of the vehicle and shattering the windshield, rear window, and passenger side window.

Sajsa’s passenger, who was identified by deputies as 87-year-old MaryAnn Sajsa suffered cuts to her right hand from the passenger side window glass, but refused treatment.

The limb landed across power and cable lines which caused a loss of power in the area. The highway was shut down by the Hopewell Fire Department until the limb could be removed, as well as the power lines.
