State Police report that a Lyons man has been charged after he allegedly broke a 5-month-old child’s leg while in his care.
Jared A. Deboard, 21, of Lyons was charged with second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child after he allegedly yanked on a child’s leg causing the child to suffer a fracture at the femur.
The next day the child’s mother, who was not aware of the incident, noticed that the child was in pain and transported the child to Sodus Pediatrics where the injury was discovered.
The 5-month-old was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment and is recovering.
Deboard was arraigned in Lyons Town Court and remanded to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 secured bond.
His next appearance in court was not listed by the New York State Police.
