Concerns raised by four people at Monday’s public hearing caused the Town Board to hold off voting to adopt a new comprehensive plan. Michael Smith thanked the board for putting him on the comprehensive plan steering committee.
“I learned a lot. I read and re-read the plan and saw how important the key focus areas are,” Smith said. “A review and updating of the zoning laws should be the next step. But I’d recommend an intermediate step of a moratorium on mining until the zoning laws are updated,” Smith continued.
