Scanner traffic indicates that a head on crash has resulted in State Route 96 being shut down at Brown Road. The crash happened shortly before 7:30 pm and three ambulances were called to the scene, as well as multiple fire companies — including the Clifton Springs and Phelps Fire Departments.
Mercy Flight was called when crews initially arrived on-scene. However, Mercy was called off after a short period of time. The extent of the injuries was not clear, as those crews worked through the scene. A request for more man power was made shortly after the road closure happened, which was just minutes after the accident.
The accident appears to have happened between Brown Road and the Prestige Mobile Home Community. Traffic is currently being diverted around the scene, which means those traveling through the area, or planning to travel through the area should avoid that stretch of Route 96 entirely. A witness reported that the vehicles involved appeared to be completely destroyed and that the vehicles were blocking most of the roadway.
