In its simplest terms, the Town of Seneca Falls Waste Disposal Law — more widely known as Local Law 3 of 2016 — does two things.
It prohibits the establishment of any new, solid waste disposal facilities in the town, and it sets a closing date for Seneca Meadows Landfill — the largest of its kind in New York state — of no later than Dec. 31, 2025.
The Town Board approved the legislation by a 4-1 vote Dec. 6. Only Supervisor Greg Lazzaro voted against it.
