Two people were hospitalized after a crash on County Road 5, which deputies in Ontario County say was caused by poor weather conditions.
Deputies in Ontario County say that Ian P. Neiboer, 24, of Rochester was traveling south on County Road 5 when he lost control of his vehicle due to slippery roads, which caused it to travel into the northbound lane — striking a guide rail.
The vehicle then crashed into another car, which was being operated by Maureen A. Hackett, 61, of Stanley, who suffered a chest and knee injury as result of the impact.
Both parties were transported to F.F. Thompson Hospital by Gorham Ambulance. Stanley and Gorham Fire Departments assisted at the scene and part of the roadway was closed for approximately one-hour due to the accident.
Nieboer was found to be at fault after an investigation. He was issued a ticket for unsafe speed and failure to keep right.
