Man tries to falsely ID self during traffic stop

Deputies arrested a 25-year-old Wayne County resident after he provided fake identifying information during a traffic stop to avoid being arrested on a bench warrant.

Deputies say that Garrick L. Powers, 25, was arrested following a traffic stop in Sodus and was subsequently charged with second-degree criminal contempt, and second-degree criminal impersonation.

Powers was arraigned in Arcadia Town Court and remanded to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 secured bond.

The charges will be answered later in Arcadia Town Court.
