White wine helps white deer in Seneca Co.

In May, Heron Hill Winery on Keuka Lake in Hammondsport released 250 cases of a new Riesling-Chardonnay blend wine under the “Save the White Deer” label. The wine was 72 percent Riesling and 28 percent Chardonnay.

But 100 percent of the proceeds of the sale of each bottle went to Seneca White Deer Inc., an organization dedicated to preserving and protecting the white deer herd at the former Seneca Army Depot in Romulus.
