As expected, City Council unanimously approved a resolution Wednesday night urging state officials to accelerate cleanup efforts for contaminated neighborhoods near the Geneva Foundry site on Jackson Street, where higher than acceptable levels of lead have been found.
The DEC plans to remove lead and arsenic contaminated soil to a depth of a foot from 220 properties at an estimated cost of $16 million.
