Canandaigua man charged with DWI after crashing car into Eastview Mall retaining wall

Deputies in Ontario County say that Daniel Scott Alden, 28, of Canandaigua was arrested for driving while ability impaired by drugs after a one-car motor vehicle accident in the Town of Victor. Alden allegedly operated his vehicle through the Eastview Mall parking lot while impaired by drugs, which resulted in him driving into the retaining wall near Stickley, Audi & Co.

He was taken by ambulance to F.F. Thompson Hospital for an evaluation. Following an investigation into the accident, Alden was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs. A check of his driving history showed a previous conviction for driving while intoxicated in 2012, which made this most-recent arrest a felony.

He was released to a third-party after being arraigned in Victor Town Court. He was wearing a seat belt during the accident and his air bags did deploy, according to deputies.
