The city of Auburn was one of 10 communities to receive state funding to help improve detection and monitoring of Combined Sewer Overflows, a release of wastewater, runoff and sewage into a water body should a treatment plant exceed its capacity.
The state awarded Auburn $50,000 to install programmable logic controllers at each Combined Sewer Overflow to replace outdated equipment, according to a release. Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced a total of $386,837 in grants to municipalities across the state.
