Trooper on Thruway crash: It’s ‘imperative’ you move over for emergency vehicles

A tow truck driver suffered serious injuries after he was hit while servicing a vehicle near Exit 45 on the Thruway Tuesday night. Troy Kellog is in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital. We are told he has a head injury and broken ribs. State police say quite frankly he is lucky to be alive.

Trooper Mark O’Donnell says, “This could have very easily been a fatality.” “The tow truck operator was assisting a disabled vehicle that was off the side of the roadway,” adds Trooper O’Donnell. “Once he pulled that vehicle out, a secondary vehicle came and stuck that vehicle that he had pulled out of the ditch which ultimately struck him.”
