Ithaca woman charged after alleged assault on corrections officer

An Ithaca woman is facing at least one felony charge after she allegedly hit a corrections officer at the Tompkins County Jail.

The incident reportedly occurred on November 5th when she was being detained on an unrelated charge to this incident. Deputies say that Emily J. Cornell, 19, of Ithaca was charged with second-degree assault.

The officer was not injured, according to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office. Cornell was arraigned in Lansing Court in lieu of $250 cash bail or $1,000 bond.
