Pulteney Street work could begin soon

The long-planned reconstruction of the section of Pulteney Street that runs through the Hobart and William Smith Colleges campus is expected to begin soon. City Manager Matt Horn said the city will be seeking bidders for the project any day, with bids hopefully awarded in December.

He called it a “total reconstruction” project that involves replacing aging water and sewer lines, as well as replacing the dilapidated street. The estimated cost is $3.5 million, said Horn, adding that the city will borrow (bond) to pay for the project, which is expected to take a year to complete.
