Hauling of landfill material from Seneca Meadows through Auburn concerns city councilors

Auburn lawmakers are concerned with news that truckloads of liquid material from Seneca Meadows will be hauled through the city potentially over the next several weeks using the Finger Lakes Railway system. Tentatively starting around Nov. 15, quantities of leachate — the liquid that drains out of a landfill — will be hauled from Seneca County by trucks to a transfer area on Frank Smith Street where they will be loaded onto train cars for shipment, City Manager Jeff Dygert reported Thursday.
