Naples pair involved in multiple crimes, charged with forgery, possession of stolen property

A Naples pair has been arrested after being accused of forging a check in the Village of Naples on October 1st.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Friday, October 7th Stephany Nicole Diaz was arrested for forgery in the second degree following an investigation into events that transpired on October 1st in the Village of Naples.

Investigators say that Diaz unlawfully filled out a stolen check and signed the name of the victim without his consent. The check was then cashed, according to deputies without the consent of the victim.

Investigators say that Phillip M. Schenk was also arrested for criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree after an investigation into the same events.

Schenk is accused of possessing the stolen checks, which were involved in the Diaz investigation and arrest. The forged checks were cashed throughout the Naples area — and deputies say additional charges are pending.

Diaz and Schenk were involved in a series of crimes, which took place throughout the Naples area.
