Two Naples residents reported to deputies that they had likely fallen asleep, which led to a single-car crash on Route 64 in the Town of South Bristol.
Deputies say that on Wednesday around 11:48 am first responders were called to Route 64 for the report of a car, which struck a tree.
The vehicle, a 2016 Subaru Legacy had extensive front end damage with airbag deployment. The operator, Rose Gugiuzza, reported that she fell asleep while driving. She complained of chest pain and was transported by Finger Lakes Ambulance to Thompson Hospital.
Her passenger, Thomas Gugliuzza reported that he must have also fallen asleep, and suffered minor facial injuries and was transported to Thompson Hospital as well.
Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, and no tickets were issued.
