The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office reports that a Campbell woman was arrested on September 30th after filing a false instrument.
Investigators say that Cynthia Fairman, 54, of Campbell was charged with offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree — a Class E felony.
It is alleged that Cynthia Fairman presented to the Steuben County Department of Social Services as homeless. While Social Services was looking at her claim of being homeless it was determined that she had filed false paperwork in order to receive emergency housing.
Fairman was arraigned in Bath Village Court and was released on her own recognizance. She will answer the charges at a later date.
