The Cayuga County Health Department said in a release Thursday that despite widespread blue-green algae blooms on Owasco Lake, the treated public water supply has not been affected.
The department continues to monitor the algae blooms and the water supply, but no toxins have been detected in samples collected from treated drinking water. Low levels of toxins were detected in samples collected Sept. 19, but the samples were from untreated water that had not yet gone through the water treatment plants.
