Health department: Blue-green algae blooms spotted throughout Owasco Lake

The Owasco Watershed Inspection Program has reported that blue-green algae blooms now have been spotted in open water across Owasco Lake, according to the Cayuga County Health Department. Health officials said Monday the blooms have covered the width of the lake, with sightings of blooms throughout the lake’s northern end to as far south as Burtis Point.
