75-year-old sent to hospital after car crashes in Geneva; fell asleep at the wheel

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Wednesday at approximately 3:06 pm deputies responded to 4583 State Route 14 in the Town of Geneva for the report of a one-car crash.

Deputies say that Philip Archer, 75, of Watkins Glen was operating his vehicle northbound when he fell asleep at the wheel — drifting off the east side of the roadway. His vehicle struck a shed when it left the road, according to deputies.

Archer was transported to Geneva General Hospital for treatment of a small laceration by Finger Lakes Ambulance. The Geneva Police Department also assisted at the scene.
