Wayland woman charged with DWAI after traffic stop in Ontario County

A Wayland woman was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs int he Town of Victor on School Road last week, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say that Kathleen D. Dewey, 53, of Wayland was arrested for driving while ability impaired by drugs during a traffic stop. She was observed failing to use her turn signals, going over the center line, and failing to come to a complete stop at a stop sign.

Dewey performed a variety of standard field sobriety tests, which she failed to perform correctly. She submitted to a drug evaluation provided by a certified New York State Drug Recognition Expert, which determined that she had been driving while ability impaired by drugs, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Dewey was issued citations and an appearance ticket for driving while ability impaired by drugs. She will answer the charges at a later date.
