The Sheriff’s Office did a crackdown on Welfare Fraud this month. Starting at the end of July and continuing throughout the month 11 persons were arrested on a total of 37 charges. Charges included: Making False Statements, Welfare Fraud, Misuse of Benefits and Larcenies. Most of the charges were felonies.

August 18: The Narco Unit arrested 2 persons in Seneca Falls for dealing narcotic, prescription pills. The investigation involved several undercover operations.

August 21: A Person Injury Boat Accident on Cayuga Lake in the Town of Ovid resulted in a Boating While Intoxicated arrest.

August 23: The Narco Unit took down a heroin dealer in Waterloo. Upon arrest 71 baggies of heroin were seized.

There were 26 Domestic Incidents in August with two persons arrested on felony charges. Charges ranged from Assault and Harassment to Violation of an Order of Protection.

Generations Bank purchased enough DARE workbooks for the 2016-17 school year in Seneca County as well as continuing to contribute to the Seneca County DARE Trust Fund.
