Seneca Falls woman arrested on welfare fraud charges

On Wednesday, Seneca County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested Taretha J. Douglas, 37, of Seneca Falls on two counts of offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree, misuse of food stamps, petit larceny and welfare fraud in the fifth degree.

The charges stem from an investigation into Douglas not reporting income to Seneca County while receiving public benefits. Douglas was arraigned in Fayette Town Court and released on her own recognizance.

Douglass will answer the charges at a later date in Waterloo Village Court.
