Customers who shop with SNAP/Food Stamp benefits are now able to stretch their food dollars at the Seneca Falls Farmers’ Market. And for every $5 of Market Electronic Benefit Transaction (EBT) Tokens that are purchased, SNAP customers will receive a $2 Fresh Connect Check free that is redeemable for farm fresh foods. The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Fresh Connect Check program encourages SNAP customers to shop at farmers markets where they can purchase fresh, affordable food, while supporting New York’s important agriculture industry.
The Seneca Falls Farmers’ Market has the ability for EBT customers to use their food stamp benefits at the market by visiting the market manager’s booth using their card to purchase as many $1 wooden tokens as they would like. These tokens act as cash within the market and can be used to purchase fresh produce, baked goods, meats, cheese, honey and any other food stamp eligible items sold at the market.
To participate in the Fresh Connect Check program, SNAP customers simply use their EBT card to purchase $5 or more of tokens. So if you purchase $20 of tokens that means a FREE $8 to spend at the market! Come out to People’s Park in Seneca Falls any Wednesday through mid-October from 9 am to 1:30 pm and stretch your food dollars by shopping local! Shop as often as you like and keep receiving $2 coupons the whole season (or while they last).
