Clint Halftown is seeking the support of Cayuga Nation members for a new, five-member Council to serve as the tribe’s governing body. However, a rival Nation faction and its lawyer vigorously oppose Halftown’s “Statement of Support Campaign,” saying it violates the tribe’s law and customs, as well as every U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs decision made on leadership since 2004.
