Child struck by car, airlifted to Strong Hospital

On Saturday at 5:19 pm a child was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital from Penn Yan following an accident involving a car and bicycle.

Penn Yan Police are not releasing the identity of the driver or child, but say that they reported to Elm Street for the report of a bicycle, which crossed in front of a motor vehicle. The bicycle was being operated by a child — age currently unknown — and was struck by the vehicle traveling eastbound on Elm Street. The accident happened near Lawrence Street.

Police say the child was wearing a helmet but suffered multiple injuries to the legs. The condition of the child at this time is also unknown.

Penn Yan Ambulance and Fire also reported to the scene and assisted.
