Seneca Falls Farmers Market report for 7/13

Come and see how much your local market has grown! We are now wrapping vendors around the gazebo! Come down to People’s Park in Seneca Falls tomorrow (Wednesday, July 13th) for the Seneca Farmers Market. Support local businesses and local agriculture! We’ll be there 9AM to 1:30PM for you to buy fresh produce and other great local items like honey, maple syrup, eggs, maple flavored popcorn, baked goods, grass fed beef, free range chicken, plants, jams and jellies and handmade items. Great, local, just picked produce including raspberries, summer squash, beans, peas, cucumbers, tomatoes and much more. We are reaching the height of the season in the Finger Lakes so don’t miss out! Baked goods include homemade breads, sticky buns, whoopie pies, cupcakes (gluten free too!) and muffins. Come and meet the people who grow the food you buy! If you’re hungry, come enjoy a meal in the shade at the picnic tables in the park. Uncle Chunkies will be serving lunch throughout the market day. Come and enjoy a Hoffman hot, hamburger or sausage and some mac salad and a cold drink. Besides the abundance of fresh, just picked veggies and fruits don’t forget about the handmade jewelry, vintage lavender filled linens, Watkins products, plants in pretty pots, and many other baked goods. Many of your old favorite vendors will be there as well so come and see what new things they have grown or made for this season. A representative from the Office for the Aging will be in the park to give out senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons! That’s right, if you are a resident of Seneca County, 60 or over and meet the income guidelines (which are very generous so come down and check it out) you will receive a free $20 worth of coupons to spend on local fruits and vegetables! And if there are two people in the same household, for the first time this year BOTH people can get $20. Come and use your EBT card and buy anything the vendors are selling that is food stamp eligible. The FreshConnect Program is back this season! For every $5 of SNAP benefits a person uses, they will receive a $2 coupon to use at the market on any food stamp eligible items. So if you use $10 of your food stamps you will receive $4 Free! Stretch your food dollars with local foods! Seneca County CCE will have a table where you can pick up some new recipes, ask any nutrition, cooking or canning questions and also sample some flavored water and learn how to make some yourself!
