Serious crash in Geneva on Rt. 5

A serious accident on Friday afternoon during rush hour resulted in two being hospitalized. One was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital for serious head injuries, while the second was treated at Geneva General Hospital.Deputies in Ontario County report that on Friday at 5:18 pm first responders were called to the intersection of State Route 5 and White Springs Road in the Town of Geneva for a three vehicle crash. Catherine Crossman and Alice Valerio were traveling eastbound on State Route 5 when Crossman suffered a diabetic issue causing her to lose control of the vehicle. Robert Johnson was operating a second vehicle, which was stopped at the intersection of State Route 5 and White Springs Road. Ralph Teneyck was operating a vehicle eastbound on State Route 5 and was stopped in front of Johnson’s vehicle. At that point Crossman’s vehicle struck Johnson’s vehicle and continued east into Teneyck’s vehicle. Extensive damage was reported on all vehicles and Life Net was called to the scene to transport at least one victim.Deputies say that Crossman was transported to Geneva General Hospital by Finger Lakes Ambulance for hip injuries. Her passenger, Alice Valerio was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital by Life Net for severe head injures. No other injuries were reported. White Springs Fire, Finger Lakes Ambulance, and the Geneva Police Department all assisted at the scene.
