New Undersheriff in Yates County

Sheriff Ron Spike announces the appointment of Howard R. Davis, Jr age 58 of Dundee, NY as Yates County Undersheriff effective July 11, 2016.Davis, a 33 year veteran to law enforcement and training retired as the Yates County Chief Deputy Sheriff at the end of 2013, and has been the Director of the Southern Tier Law Enforcement Academy affiliated with Corning Community College since. Davis is a US Air Force veteran, graduate of Corning Community College, with AAS degree in criminal justice, and numerous law enforcement schools and courses during his career. He is a graduate of the NYS Law Enforcement Executive Institute, and a graduate of the 246th session of the prestigious FBI National Academy at Quantico, Virginia. Long time (appointed by Spike in 1993) Undersheriff John “Jack” Gleason retired effective June 30, 2016 with 44 years of police service having first joined the YCSO as a Deputy in 1972 raising up through the ranks. “We thank Jack for his many years of public service in law enforcement and police administration,” said Sheriff Spike, “his work in YCSO’s professionally recognized accreditation achievements in all venues and policy development is a tribute to his dedication,” Sheriff Spike said, “Howard’s years of experience, education, leadership abilities, and dedication is admirable, and I and the agency members look forward to working with him in the best interests of public safety and administration of the Sheriff’s Office, and its myriad of responsibilities.”
