An accident involving a motorcycle and car Monday around 5:30 pm left an Ithaca man and Phelps woman with serious injuries.Deputies in Ontario County responded to State Route 14 in the Town of Geneva for a two vehicle crash, which reportedly involved a motorcycle and car. Deputies say Gerald and Kathleen Hilyer were traveling northbound on State Route 14 when a motorcycle being operated by Michael Caccia, of Ithaca struck the Hilyer’s 2006 Ford.Deputies said that Caccia attempted to pass several vehicles on the right, when the vehicles in front of him slowed — and consequently struck the Hilyer’s vehicle, which was turning right onto Crazy Cove. Caccia and his passenger, Robin Phelps — were transported by Mercy Flight and Life Net to Strong Memorial Hospital for reported leg injuries. Their condition at this time is unknown. The Hilyer’s were not injured in the accident.West Lake Fire, Finger Lakes Ambulance, Penn Yan Ambulance and Yates County Advanced Life Support Medic 55 assisted at the scene. Caccia was issued a citation for improper passing, which will be answered in Geneva Town Court.
