Seneca Meadows awards annual scholarships

Seneca Meadows, Inc. will be awarding eight scholarships at upcoming graduation ceremonies in Seneca County. Two seniors from each graduating class at Mynderse Academy, Romulus, South Seneca, and Waterloo high schools will receive $1,500 to apply toward their education in the conservation or environmental sciences.The recipients have been selected by respective school awards committees, and those committees selected outstanding students who have chosen to further their education in environmental conservation, science, or other related fields of study, according to Seneca Meadows.This marks the 13th year of the annual scholarship making it a total of $120,000 awarded to students in Seneca County over that period. Seneca Meadows plans to continue the scholarship in 2017 as part of their ongoing initiatives to encourage environmental stewardship, as well as giving back to the community.Seneca Meadows said in a statement that they remain “dedicated to the preservation and advancement of the environment.” The company cites that they recycle up to 2 million tires per year, “partnering in the production of methane generated energy for 18,000 homes, supporting wetlands conservation and environmental programming, and providing free residential recycling and electronics recycling drop off services.”
