Another shooting in downtown Geneva

The Geneva Police Department has reported that there was a shooting in downtown Geneva around 3:50 am Sunday morning, which they believe was directly connected to the earlier shooting of Aleem Whitfield on April 29th. Officers received multiple calls in the area of 45-47 Lafayette Avenue for reports of shots fired. When they arrived, officers say they found Maurice O. Maxon, 31, of Geneva, with multiple gunshot wounds.Maxon had suffered one gunshot wound to the abdomen, as well as the shoulder. Officers say he is expected to survive. However, he was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester where he was undergoing surgery as of 7:50 am.Currently, the Geneva Police Department noted that witnesses are not being cooperative with the police and will provide no information in relation to the shooting or the events that led up to the shooting.Approximately, 20 to 30 people were on scene at the time of the shooting, but would provide no information. Geneva Police say they are confident that this shooting is directly related to the shooting of Aleem Whitfield, which took place on April 29th near the intersection of Seneca Street and Linden Street.The victim and witnesses in this matter remain uncooperative, as well.The crime scene was searched and processed. Ontario County Sheriff’s Department including K-9 units assisted with the search. A door-to-door canvas is being conducted at this time, according to police.The Geneva Police Department asks anyone with information to contact them at (315) 789-1111.
