Pair charged with welfare fraud in Seneca County

Seneca County Sheriff Timothy Luce reports that investigators arrested two suspects for charges relating to welfare fraud in Waterloo on May 27th. Deputies arrested Corey M. Hopkins, 30, of Seneca Falls and charged him with welfare fraud in the fourth degree, grand larceny in the fourth degree, and misuse of food stamps.Deputies also arrested Amanda R. Godwin, 33, of Romulus and charged her with welfare fraud in the fourth degree, grand larceny in the fourth degree, and misuse of food stamps.Luce reports that all charges are Class E felonies. Both suspects were arraigned in Waterloo Village Court and released on their own recognizance to appear at a later date. The Seneca County Welfare Fraud Unit, as well as the Seneca County Investigators continue to rigorously investigate welfare fraud in Seneca County, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
