The City of Geneva, Recreation Department will be hosting a Free Fishing Clinic for kids and their families this Saturday, May 28th at Lakefront Park, dubbed “Come Fish With Me”!Families can choose from either attending a 10 am or 11:30 am session and those who pre-register on the www.genevarec.com website will also be entered into a drawing for a set of kids fishing equipment.This event is co-sponsored with the NYS DEC, allowing for no licensing requirements for participants, while also having professional staff onsite to teach participants about fish identification, fishing equipment and techniques, fisheries management, angling ethics and aquatic ecology. They will be providing fishing gear for families to use during the program time!Professional angler, Jim Root will be our special guest during the program. Jim, an upstate NY native has been fishing since he was 3 years old. He has over 50 tournament wins nationwide, writes an active blog on www.jimrootfishing.com and has recently been featured on the Weather Channel.Recreation Director, Janelle Drach noted “We are very lucky that Jim was able to stop into Geneva with his busy schedule to meet our local families and share his love and passion for fishing with us”.
