Village Trustees to honor 140 years of service by Newark PD

The Village of Newark Board of Trustees will honor the current and retired members of the Village of Newark Police Department for their 140 years of dedicated service by issuing uniform bars and challenge coins at its scheduled Village Board meeting on May 17, 2016 at 6 p.m. in the village’s second floor court room at 100 East Miller Street.Mayor Jonathan Taylor stated, “It is an honor to recognize the men and women who have faithfully served our village. Having a police force for 140 years has been a tremendous asset to our citizens, and the Village Board and I would like to thank them on behalf of the entire community”. The Mayor went on to say that he would like to give a special thank you to Colacino Electric and Super Gen Products for their generous donation that enables this recognition to take place.Officer Aaron Dean stated, “We attribute our longevity to the dedication and professionalism of our officers, the high volume of cases investigated and closed by arrests, but most importantly the support of the citizens and business owners of this village over the years who appreciate the security and services provided. Our motto says ‘Serving the Community Proudly’ and we hope to continue to do that for another 140 years”.
