New prize categories have been announced for the Walk for Life on May 21 sponsored by Care Net Pregnancy Care Center. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the center located at 551 Exchange Street in Geneva. Prize categories will be for those who raise the most money for the Center. A “Family Prize” is valued at over $150 with donations in gas totaling $60 from St. Francis-St. Clare’s Knights of Columbus and Kwik Fill, as well as TOPS of Waterloo, Friendly’s of Geneva, Sinicropi Florist in Seneca Falls, and Parkers of Seneca Falls. The “Individual Prize” (no age limit) is valued over $150 with donations of a six-foot long sub from Subway in Waterloo, a large pizza from Mark’s, Kinney Drug in Seneca Falls and Lowe’s in Border City. The “Teen Prize” (ages 12-19) valued over $80 will have three pizza certificates from Ciccino’s Pizzeria & Restaurant, plus ten small ice cream cone certificates from Peppy’s Ice Cream and a gift card from Walmart. This year’s new category is “The Quirky Sneaker Contest” for the participant who is judged to have the most unique sneakers with a $25 Walmart gift certificate. The less than two-mile walk will begin at the center and end at Genesee Park with refreshments. Doreen Teed, PCC Director, tells, “While walking we will be handing out bracelets and balloons to people along the way. We will carry signs supporting life and will stop and pray at different locations throughout the course of the walk.” For those who cannot walk but would like to participate, there will be a Sneaker for Life that can be purchased with a donation of $5.00 or more. These sneakers with names on them will travel with the walkers.
