Steuben County Sheriff David V. Cole announces that after forty one years of law enforcement service he will be retiring in December of 2016. Sheriff Cole’s law enforcement career, which has spanned over four decades, includes service in the Village of Wayland Police Department, New York State Police, the Village of Addison Police Department and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office where he served nine years as Undersheriff and four years as Sheriff.Sheriff Cole would like to thank all of the law enforcement professionals he has worked with during his career for their service and dedication to their communities. Sheriff Cole would also like to thank all of the citizens of Steuben County for the trust and confidence they have given to him and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Cole is also pleased to announce that Undersheriff Jim Allard has decided to declare his candidacy for the Office of Sheriff and to endorse and support Undersheriff Allard in that endeavor. Undersheriff Allard is a twenty eight year law enforcement veteran in Steuben County with sixteen years of supervisory and administrative experience. Undersheriff Allard will publicly announce his candidacy on Thursday May 12th 2016 at the following times and locations:10am at Centerway Square, Market Street, Corning NY12pm at the Steuben County Office Building, East Pulteney Square, Bath NY3:30pm at the Hornell City Hall, Hornell NY
