A Rushville man was sent down an embankment into the Canandaigua Outlet on Tuesday at approximately 5:22 am after fog impeded his view of the roadway on County Road 27 in Clifton Springs.Deputies responded to County Road 25 and 27 for the report of a vehicle that had crashed into the Canandaigua Outlet a little after 5:00 am. When deputies arrived on scene they determined that a vehicle operated by Martin E. Rayball, 57, of Marion was traveling southbound on County Road 27, passing a stop sign at the intersection of County Road 25. Rayball’s vehicle left the roadway, traveled across a lawn and down an embankment into the Canandaigua Outlet. He was transported to Clifton Springs Hospital after complaining about back pain. He is currently in satisfactory condition, according to deputies.Deputies say Rayball was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. However, he was issued traffic citations for failure to stop, and unreasonable speed for special hazards, as there was heavy fog at the time in that area.He will appear in Manchester Town Court to answer the charges.
