Canandaigua Police bust man operating meth lab

On Tuesday a man was arrested in the City of Canandaigua on a variety of drug related charges. The Canandaigua Police Department reports that on Tuesday, Shawn D. Furman, 33, of no permanent address was charged with unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine in the third degree, criminal possession of precursors of methamphetamine, possession of a hypodermic instrument, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and driving while using a mobile phone.Furman was observed using a mobile device while driving on South Main Street and was stopped by police. It was discovered by police that Furman’s driver’s license was revoked. During a search of the vehicle Furman was operating several pieces of laboratory equipment, precursors, solvents, and chemicals were located.It was determined that he was operating a laboratory capable of producing methamphetamine.The investigation is still ongoing and additional charges are pending. The New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team assisted in the processing of the related evidence. Furman was arraigned in city court and remanded to the Ontario County Jail in lieu of bail.
