The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office reports that a two car crash Wednesday evening took place when a car carrying four people struck a pickup truck at the intersection of State Route 488 and State Route 96 in Phelps.Deputies say that a 1999 Ford Contour operated by Samantha Barnard, 22, of Clifton Springs was traveling northbound on State Route 488, approaching the State Route 96 intersection, when the vehicle failed to stop for a red light at the corner.Her vehicle struck a 2006 Ford F-150 XLT being operated by Wayne Youngman, who was traveling westbound on State Route 96. According to deputies there were three other individuals in the vehicle being operated by Barnard. Barnard, plus the three other occupants of the vehicle were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital to treat their injuries. One of the occupants was a 2-year-old child, who was properly restrained in the seat. The child suffered facial injuries, but was released, as were the other occupants of Barnard’s vehicle. All parties involved were also wearing seatbelts, according to deputies.Oaks Corners Fire Department and Finger Lakes Ambulance all responded to the scene. Barnard was ticketed for passing a red light and will answer the charge in Phelps Town Court at a later date.
